Gustavo Sanchez runs a private-wealth practice for families who own operating businesses, real estate and more than one passport. He arrived with a symbol he loved, a trilliant cut in sapphire, and nothing else: no palette, no type, no rule for where the mark may sit or how small it may go. A registered investment adviser is judged on restraint before it is judged on anything else, and a symbol alone cannot carry restraint.
We built the system around the stone. Sapphire, Ivory, Ink and Taupe, four grounds that read as one firm in daylight and at night. EB Garamond for the headings and the numbers, Inter for everything a reader has to act on. Lockups for the header, the footer and print, clear space, the reduction the mark needs at a favicon's sixteen pixels, and the surfaces it must never sit on. Fourteen pages, and the website reads every one of them directly: the brand book is data inside the site, not a PDF beside it.
The register was written down before a page existed: the European restraint of a Geneva private bank crossed with the declarative confidence of a Chicago fund. Every later decision on the site, from how a band opens to what a closing sentence may claim, was tested against that line.
What held
- One approved brand book, applied on one day, so nothing on the site was ever a guess about the brand.
- The mark stayed his. The studio's favicon reduction is labelled a stand-in until he ratifies it.
- Print values and lockups delivered with the web, so the cards match the site.
The site had to read as counsel in English, Spanish and Portuguese without becoming three sites. One build serves all three, with shared page addresses, the language signals a search engine expects, and copy applied verbatim from his locked documents in each language rather than translated by us.
We kept the vocabulary small and used it exactly. The Blueprint page explains a private engagement without a numbered process, because a numbered process is what a template sells; the rhythm of the engagement is drawn as an axis that fills as the reader scrolls and unwinds when they scroll back. The Firm page answers who the firm is accountable to before it names anyone. Every page closes on one sealed statement and one way in, a private introduction, never a form that asks for assets under management.
Nothing on the site quotes returns, promises outcomes or publishes a client's figures, because a registered adviser's website is a regulated document. What it does instead is show judgment: the questions the firm asks, the order it asks them in, and what it will not do.
What held
- A staging link he could review at any hour, and a production address that stayed a holding page until he said go.
- Decisions closed rather than deleted, so a question answered in July was not raised again in September.
- Launched on his own domain the night he said so, every route verified in three languages before his resolver had caught up.
Bring the idea. We bring the identity, the site and the campaigns that carry it.
