MAKHNO had built a globally recognized body of work spanning 600 projects across 25 countries, rooted in authentic Ukrainian craft and ceramic tradition. But translating that richness into a digital experience is genuinely hard — the textures, the imperfection, the cultural depth all risk getting flattened into something generic. The existing site needed to feel as alive and intentional as the objects MAKHNO makes by hand.
We led with atmosphere over information — dark, earthy tones, generous whitespace, and typography that breathes rather than shouts. Every section was designed to slow the visitor down, the way great craft demands you stop and look. The result is a site that doesn't just show the work, it earns the same attention the work does in person.
